An encyclopedic reference on contemporary English-language novelists, cited in Walford and ARBA 1992. The entry for each writer consists of a biography, a complete listing of separately published books, and a signed essay. Entrants were invited to comment on their work, and these comments are surprisingly frank and frequently enlightening. The selection of writers included is based on the recommendations of advisers, who are listed.
